To extend and refurbish a family house in Hertfordshire. Our proposal introduced a glass corridor, linking a new rear extension to the existing garage - uplifted to habitable accommodation: a nanny’s bedroom, en suite and utility room.
To create a cohesive design to unify the disparate forms created by previous extensions.
We created a bold, new extension with a glazed corridor link to the garage.
The glass corridor is animated at night by concealed,LED lighting. Opaque glass panels facing the corridor, bring natural light to the adjacent rooms.
The rendered elevation is profiled with recess to suit the minimally framed, bi-parting/sliding doors, in their open position and this introduces an intricacy to the otherwise bold form of the extension.
